A man from Florida, who had recently been released on bail following a domestic violence arrest, tragically ended the life of his ex-wife before taking his own life, as detailed by law enforcement officials.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shared on social media that Samuel Vaia, aged 33, crashed his vehicle in the early hours of Monday morning while trying to escape authorities who were on the lookout for him. This search had commenced after the discovery of his ex-wife, Ashley Vaia, aged 38, who was found by her teenage daughter when deputies arrived at the family residence in Deltona around 2:22 a.m.

Samuel Vaia’s vehicle was tracked by law enforcement and spotted speeding northbound out of the county. As several law enforcement agencies closed in, Samuel Vaia crashed. Responders approached the vehicle and found their suspect inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
