A Kansas state trooper rescued a kidnapped 6-year-old girl and arrested two men, including the man charged with kidnapping her.
The Kansas Highway Patrol did not specify the timing or location of the arrest. However, they disclosed that the young girl had been abducted in a different state a month earlier, while not revealing the state.
During a routine traffic stop, a trooper pulled over the SUV carrying the group for a traffic offense. Upon investigation, it was found that the man in the passenger seat had an arrest warrant for kidnapping. The girl seated in the back, around 6 years old, initially provided the trooper with false information about her identity and birth date, as part of an effort orchestrated to protect the adult from arrest.
The girl eventually gave the trooper her real name, and it matched the kidnapping victim.
Both the passenger and the driver of the SUV were apprehended, although the Kansas Highway Patrol did not specify the charges. According to the agency, the driver had a criminal record that included previous involvement in homicide cases and numerous weapons violations. The two individuals taken into custody were reported to be in their sixties.
The little girl was not physically harmed. The highway patrol did not say if she was checked out at a hospital or had been returned to her family.
