KATY PERRY will blast off into orbit today in what will be the world’s first all-female space mission for more than 60 years.
The pop star is being sent to the stars on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket, which will launch from Texas today.
Author Lauren Sanchez, journalist Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and film producer Kerianne Flynn will be joining her.
Perry has been undergoing last minute preparations before the historic trip – sharing pics and videos on her Instagram.
She expressed her thoughts, saying, “I am having conversations with myself every day, reminding myself that I am brave and bold. I am taking on this challenge to inspire the next generation, to encourage various individuals, especially young girls, to dream of venturing into space. I want them to believe that there are no limitations.”
Perry’s journey to space will only be brief – with the trip only expected to last around 11 minutes.
The rocket will take off at around 2.30pm UK time today, 8.30am in Texas.
