A Kentucky girl of 6 years old is currently in critical condition and her mother is facing charges of attempted murder after allegedly using a hammer to hit the child on the head.
On Thursday at around 12:45 p.m., Louisville Metro Police officers were called to the scene where they discovered the young girl had sustained multiple blunt force injuries to her head, according to a report by WLKY. The child was swiftly transported to Norton Children’s Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical care.
The 39-year-old mother, Zeinab Abdi, admitted to authorities that she struggles with extreme anger management issues and often finds it difficult to control herself. She confessed to striking her daughter on the head multiple times with a hammer.
Her son, who age was not given, told police his mother told him, “Let me finish her” and tried to get back to the girl when he separated them.
Louisville Police said Abdi was charged with attempted murder (domestic violence). She was arraigned on Friday and given a $500,000 bond, WLKY said. The judge ordered her to have no contact with any children, including her own.
