Timothee Chalamet's grief-stricken girlfriend Kylie Jenner skips SAG Awards and his mom steps in as date

Timothee Chalamet grief-stricken girlfriend Kylie Jenner skipped the Screen Actors Guild Awards this Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Earlier that day, news broke that Kylie’s hairstylist and longtime friend Jesus Guerrero had died ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ at the age of 34.

Previously, Kylie had been accompanying Timothee to glamorous events for his acclaimed Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.

There were instances where Timothee walked the red carpet by himself before being accompanied by Kylie during the actual ceremony. This happened at events such as the Golden Globes and the Berlinale.

However, following the tragic passing of Jesus, Kylie chose not to attend the SAG Awards. Instead, Timothee’s mother, Nicole Flender, took on the role of his date for the evening.

Nicole, a former Broadway dancer who has transitioned into real estate, was seated beside Timothee at the Shrine Auditorium, accompanying him after his solo appearance on the red carpet.

Timothee was seated at the ceremony beside his mother, a former Broadway dancer who now works as a New York real estate agent.

Kylie’s absence from the ceremony comes the day it emerged Jesus had died at 34.

His sister Gris heartbrokenly announced that she had lost her brother ‘very suddenly and unexpectedly,’ but did not publicly disclose the cause of death.

During the SAG Awards, Timothee introduced A Complete Unknown alongside his co-stars Monica Barbaro, Elle Fanning and Edward Norton.

Timothee wound up flubbing his lines during the pre-written segment, prompting him to self-effacingly joke that he ‘shoulda done rehearsal.’

Later that night, Timothee won best actor in a motion picture in a stunning upset victory – and hugged his mother before heading to the stage.

‘I was not expecting this at all, truly. I’ll start by thanking my mother who I’m here with tonight. She has been working at Actors Equity for 40 years, the stage union,’ said Timothee, to a round of applause.

‘And I’ll quickly run through this, you know. I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much this means to me. But the truth is this was five and a half years of my life.’

He declared: ‘I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Bob Dylan, a true American hero, and it was the honor of a lifetime playing him.’

Timothee added: ‘It’s an honor I share with Monica, Elle, Edward, the entire cast, who in a genre – doing a biopic – that could be perhaps tired, everyone gave it their all, so I’m deeply grateful to them.’

He concluded by saying that he ‘can’t downplay the significance of this award, because it means the most to me. And I know we’re in a subjective business. but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness.’

The Dune star allowed: ‘I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I wanna be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight.’

Timothee said that he was ‘as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis and Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps, and I wanna be up there, so I’m deeply grateful to that. This doesn’t signify that, but it’s a little more fuel, it’s a little more ammo to keep going.’

Offstage, he could be seen sharing a warm embrace with Colman Domingo, who had been nominated against him for the prison drama Sing Sing.

Body language expert Lucy Parker has now exclusively given DailyMail.com her analysis of Timothee’s behavior at the awards ceremony.

‘Timothée Chalamet appeared to be missing the supportive body language rituals of Kylie, who had been a steady presence at previous award ceremonies – faithfully by his side, clutching his hand, and offering reassuring pats and strokes to boost his confidence,’ said the expert.

‘He initially strode onto the red carpet with the cocky swagger of a gunslinger, his leather Western-style suit reinforcing the image. However, during the cast’s scripted promo for their movie, he missed his cue for the second segment, resulting in an awkward silence and giggles from the other actors,’ she added.

‘His body language subtly shifted in response – what began as a casual, confident stance with one hand slung in his pocket soon changed to a more self-conscious posture, with his hands clasped behind his back. Meanwhile, Edward Norton instinctively stepped into a guiding role, nudging the others for their cues from the far end of the line.’

Monica was also nominated for best supporting actress that evening for her role as the pioneering singer-songwriter Joan Baez.

Edward Norton was also nominated for best supporting actor for his role as the communist folk icon Pete Seeger, as was the cast for a collective ensemble prize.

Wicked: Part One leads the nominations at this year’s SAG Awards, with five nods to its name including for Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

The cast are collectively nominated for what is often regarded as the highest honor of the night at the SAGs – outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.

Wicked finds itself in a formidable category, nominated against the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown starring Timothee Chalamet, among others.

The Catholic drama Conclave led by Ralph Fiennes is also up for that prize, as is the awards season favorite Anora starring Mikey Madison and Yura Borisov.

Rounding out the best ensemble in a motion picture category is the Spanish-language musical Emilia Perez, featuring Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana and the controversial leading lady Karla Sofia Gascon.

Presented by SAG-AFTRA, Saturday night’s ceremony is the only awards show during the Hollywood season to exclusively honor actors.

The union’s over 130,000 members voted for the 13 prizes that were scheduled to be handled out Saturday over the course of a two-hour ceremony.

A-list stars galore have scored nominations, including Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl, Demi Moore for The Substance and Zoe Saldana for Emilia Perez.

Selena Gomez has two nods – one as part of the ensemble cast of Emilia Perez and one as part of the cast of the sitcom Only Murders In The Building.

Only Murders In The Building is up against The Bear, Hacks, Abbott Elementary and Shrinking for the coveted honor of best ensemble in a comedy series.

Best ensemble in a drama series is another tough category, with Shogun facing off against Bridgerton, Slow Horses and Day Of The Jackal.

Meanwhile, the SAG Life Achievement Award has already been announced as going to Jane Fonda, the 60th recipient of the gong.

SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher, best known as the star of the 1990s sitcom The Nanny, praised Jane as a ‘trailblazer and an extraordinary talent.’

She vaunted Jane as ‘a dynamic force who has shaped the landscape of entertainment, advocacy and culture with unwavering passion.’

This year, the official nomination ceremony for the SAG Awards had to be canceled on account of the devastating Los Angeles fires.

Kristen Bell is hosting the SAG Awards and is also nominated for best actress in a comedy series, against Jean Smart for Hacks, Ayo Edebiri and Liza Colon-Zayas for The Bear and Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary.
