New Orleans 'Bourbon Street Hustler' suspect in Super Bowl reporter death may be tied to 2nd fatality: police

Louisiana police on Tuesday are announcing an update in the Feb. 5 death of a Super Bowl reporter’s drug death in a suburb of New Orleans.

Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old Telemundo sports reporter from Kansas City, Missouri, traveled to New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl in February. Tragically, he was found deceased in his hotel room at the Comfort Suites in Kenner with Xanax in his system.

Authorities arrested and charged 45-year-old Danette Colbert, also known as the “Bourbon Street Hustler,” in connection with Manzano’s death. Colbert faces charges of fraud, robbery, and being a fugitive. It is suspected that she may have drugged Manzano, stolen his credit cards, and left him to be discovered by authorities.

Colbert, who has a history of targeting and deceiving male victims in New Orleans and Las Vegas, was detained without bond following her arrest. She is known for her schemes to rob unsuspecting individuals in popular tourist areas.

Authorities executed a search warrant at Colbert’s address after identifying her as a potential suspect in connection with Manzano’s death and located a stolen gun that did not appear to be related to Manzano’s death and narcotics.

Colbert may face additional charges as the investigation into Manzano’s death develops.

Telemundo 39 remembered Manzano in a statement as “a true professional and a rising star who exemplified excellence in his work.”

“We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community,” the statement says.
