Luna Blaise is an only child hailing from a family of entertainers. The singer-actress was born to parents who gave her a rich bi-ethnic heritage and were integral in shaping her career choice.

In September 2017, Luna Blaise penned an essay for Pop Sugar detailing how her bi-racial ancestry heavily influenced her identity. Her mother, Angelyna Boyd, is a second-generation Mexican-American, and her father, Paul Boyd, is Scottish.
Angelyna named her daughter Luna because the young singer often “stayed up” at night when she was in her belly. In addition, she wanted Luna to be reminded of her Hispanic roots through her name.

A Bit about Luna Blaise’s Upbringing
Reminiscing about her upbringing, Luna said, “Everything about my life has been colorful, musical, and rich in culture.” The singer added that her culture, particularly her Mexican side, profoundly shaped who she was.
“My mom has brown skin, and she is very proud to be Latina. Everything she does, from the way she dresses to the way she dances, projects her strong sense of identity,” Luna explained. She proudly inherited those traits from Angelyna.

When Luna was 13, Angelyna told her daughter about the lack of Latina representation in mainstream fashion when she was younger and looking to shape her own style. This initially contaminated her confidence, but that changed when Latina Magazine launched.
The publication — which previously featured Jennifer Lopez, Gina Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, and more — celebrates and honors Latina artists and changemakers. When Luna was invited for an interview and performance at Latina headquarters, Angelyna couldn’t help the tears of pride and joy.
