A 51-year-old California man has been charged with the murders of his elderly parents.
Indio Police were requested to conduct a welfare check on an elderly couple, both 84 years old, but were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence, according to KTLA.
During their investigation, authorities visited a different location, although they did not disclose the owner of that residence. They encountered a man inside, which led to a confrontation when he refused to exit the premises.
Officers went back to the initial home and made a forced entry, finding the couple dead inside.
A SWAT team was summoned to the second location. Following several hours, the individual eventually emerged. The police identified him as Kevin James Reddy and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents, whose identities have not been revealed.
No further information was released.
Reddy is being held on a $1 million bail and is due in court Wednesday morning.
