A 69-year-old Colorado man has been arrested and charged with raping three young children.
Terry Lee Simerly is in custody on a $75,000 bond, as reported by the Colorado Springs Gazette. He faces charges of three counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and three counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust involving a pattern of abuse.
The Colorado Springs Police revealed that they were alerted on December 17 about an incident where Simerly allegedly assaulted a 7-year-old boy. According to child advocates who spoke with the boy, he disclosed that Simerly had subjected him to repeated assaults, starting when he was just 2 years old.
Additionally, two girls, aged 8 and 7, came forward with reports of being assaulted by Simerly. One of the girls disclosed that the abuse commenced when she was 4 years old and living with him. She further mentioned that Simerly had threatened to harm her if she ever revealed the incidents to anyone.
Simerly, who was arrested last Thursday, is due in court again on January 7. Court records show that he remained behind bars Tuesday night.
