A 35 year-old Virginia woman was arrested last week and charged with the murder of her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend.
Police officers from Prince George’s County were summoned to Capitol Heights, Maryland, late Thursday night where they discovered the lifeless body of Connie Burns, a 54-year-old woman who had suffered trauma.
Erica Terry remained on the scene and arrested on second degree murder and other charges.
The investigation revealed that the two had gotten into a physical altercation.
Reports from WRC indicate that Burns had visited the residence of her boyfriend in search of her 9-year-old son, as stated in court documents. The boyfriend, who is the biological father of the child, informed authorities that an altercation ensued between him and Burns regarding his involvement with Terry. Terry, reportedly, also became involved in the dispute and physically engaged in a violent altercation with Burns.
Allegedly, Terry struck Burns in the head, causing her to fall to the ground, following which she was subjected to repeated punches and kicks. At one point, the boyfriend intervened by placing himself between the two women and instructed Terry to retreat upstairs to contact emergency services. However, Terry failed to do so, prompting the boyfriend to make the call for help using his own mobile phone. Tragically, despite the assistance being sought, it was unable to prevent the fatal outcome for Burns.
