A South Carolina man was arrested this week after he allegedly gunned down a teenager last month for having a relationship with someone police described as “a loved one.”
The Columbia Police Department said that Marcus Chaplin, 37, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of the 17-year-old, who was not named, WOLO reported.
Police said officers responded to a ShotSpotter report at about 4 a.m. on December 29 and found the teen dead from multiple gunshots in the backyard of a home.
Investigators said Chaplin confronted the teen in another resident’s yard after learning about the recent relationship with the “loved one.”
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
