A man from Washington state faces charges for the death of his estranged wife shortly after she filed a restraining order against him. The tragic incident took place while their three children were present at home.
After crashing his car, the unnamed suspect was located by Kitsap County deputies not far from the location of the crime according to reports from KING.
Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kevin McCarty said the suspect “resisted arrest” when he was found.
Deputies confirmed that the murder occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. Fortunately, the three children were unharmed physically, and authorities have not disclosed the cause of the wife’s death. Police mentioned that one of the minors dialed 911 following the incident.
Court records indicate that a petition for dissolution of the marriage was filed on Tuesday, and the restraining order came a day later.
“In any situation like this, the kids are going to be handled very delicately and they will be interviewed for whatever information they can provide,” added McCarty.
The suspect is due in court later Friday.
