FORMER firebrand congressman Matt Gaetz debuted on a conservative TV network – and viewers couldn’t help but comment on his appearance.
The disgraced former lawmaker, previously nominated by Donald Trump for attorney general, featured guests like gun-wielding Republican Lauren Boebert on his program, though the political discussions were not the main focus.
That was because viewers appeared to be more concerned about Gaetz’s looks.
Some even claimed that he would be more suited to featuring in a Christmas flick than a politics program on the One American News Network.
Viewers believe that Gaetz was wearing some form of makeup, and his artists may have overdone it.
They urged the ex-politician to make a change before taking to the air again.
“I couldn’t even tell that it was Gaetz,” one viewer claimed on X.
“Fire your makeup artist. Seriously.”
Another claimed that Gaetz looked “terrible” and asked who did his makeup.
Others speculated if the Republican had received Botox injections.
One critic claimed that Gaetz looked like he belonged in Whoville – the town that is featured in Dr. Seuss’s book How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Despite viewers calling out Gaetz’s appearance, he also received a fair share of support.
Conservatives posted how they were excited that Gaetz had a show on OANN.
Gaetz, a devoted advocate for Trump, was initially chosen as the president-elect’s nominee for attorney general – shortly after the magnate’s triumph in the presidential election.
But he removed his name from selection as allegations of misconduct continued to swirl.
GAETZ PROBE
He was at the center of a federal sex-trafficking investigation by the House Ethics Committee.
A damning report released before Christmas revealed the shamed lawmaker had paid a number of women and a teen girl, 17, for sex while in office.
He allegedly made payments totalling $90,000 to 11 different women and the girl between 2017 and 2020.
Gaetz allegedly had sex with Victim A, who was 17, twice at a 2017 party, according to the report.
He vehemently denied the allegations and tried to block the release of the report – but ultimately failed.
Investigators claimed that he had broken a number of state laws while in Congress.
Gaetz denied having sex with a minor in written responses to the committee.
He slammed the release of the report in a lengthy X tirade.
“They deliberately released this information in a pre-Christmas report instead of a proper legal setting where I could provide evidence and confront witnesses.”
Meanwhile, lawmakers are preparing to elect the next House Speaker.
President-elect Trump has been selecting his cabinet, and his picks will be scrutinized in the coming weeks.
Gaetz, who won re-election in November before dramatically resigning from Congress, has been touted as one of the contenders to replace Senator Marco Rubio.
Rubio was picked by Trump to serve as his Secretary of State.
But one Republican who will not be succeeding Rubio is Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara.
