Pacific Palisades home where Matthew Perry died is engulfed in LA fire... months after it sold for $8.5M

Matthew Perry’s former Pacific Palisades home — where he tragically died in 2023 — is under immediate threat amid the devastating wildfire ravaging the celeb-loved Los Angeles enclave.

Less than three months ago, the four-bedroom, five-bathroom abode was sold for a whopping $8.55 million to its current owner, real estate developer Anita Verma-Lallian.

According to Realtor.com, the property was surrounded by fire on Wednesday, with neighbors on Blue Sail Drive sharing horrifying footage of the rapidly approaching blaze to social media.

The Palisades Fire — one of three unprecedented wildfires terrorizing Southern California — has scorched over 15,000 acres of land and destroyed approximately 1,000 structures. Tens of thousands of LA residents are currently under evacuation orders.

Though its unknown if Perry’s former home has burned down, Cal Fire’s live map shows that the neighborhood is within the ‘incident perimeter.’

Verma-Lallian confirmed via Instagram Story that her and her family are ‘safe’ but did not provide any information about the state of the property.

‘Thank you to all who reached out. Our family is safe and we are awaiting updates. Praying for all those affected by the wildfires,’ the movie producer wrote.

She also re-posted horrifying BBC News footage of Pacific Palisades homes engulfed in flames as extreme winds swept through the devastated area.

Verma-Lallian — who is based in Scottsdale, Arizona — purchased Perry’s 3,500-square-foot mansion in off-market deal in October 2024.

She previously told The Los Angeles Times that she planned to use the Pacific Palisades property as a ‘vacation home.’

Home’s sale came almost exactly one year after the Friends star was found dead in the hot tub of the residence on October 28, 2023 at age 54.

Perry originally bought the house, which is perched upon a hillside overlooking the ocean, back in 2020 for $6 million. Prior to his death, Perry completely revamped the property, trading in a light oak floor for a darker wood and boho furniture for much brighter colors.

He would frequently share photos of his house, pool and yard, revealing that he was a big fan of Batman as artwork of the caped crusader was featured prominently in his home.

In fact, his very last Instagram post was a shot of him enjoying the hot tub that he died in with the lights of the city twinkling behind him.

His death was ruled accidental due to the acute effects of Ketamine. Buprenorphine, which is often used to treat opioid addiction, was also found in his system.

Contributing factors in his death were given as drowning and coronary artery disease.

Though it’s unknown if Perry’s former home has perished, many of Hollywood’s elite could not escape the wrath of the Los Angeles wildfires.

The ritzy neighborhood of Pacific Palisades has been reduced to ash and rubble, with multiple celebrities among those who have lost their homes.

Actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s $7 million mansion is among the 1,000 structures which have been destroyed due to the wildfires.

The couple purchased the five bedroom home in 2019, but pictures show the property now engulfed in flames.

Similarly, actress Anna Faris’ $5 million eco-friendly abode was totally decimated by the blaze.

Former talk show host Ricki Lake shared an emotional post mourning the ‘immeasurable’ loss of her ‘dream home’.

Lake, 56, bought the property back in 2014. She and husband Ross Sussman tied the knot there in their backyard just three years ago.

‘I can’t believe I am typing these words […] Ross and I lost our dream home,’ Lake wrote on Instagram.

Oscar-nominated actor James Woods shared footage of a home two blocks from his property that was completely set alight.

Reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag confirmed their home has also been lost.

Pratt, 41, was captured in photos as he watched the rapidly advancing fire move toward his home.

Luckily, the couple and their two sons were able to safely evacuate earlier in the day before the flames got too close.

Meanwhile, the likes of Mandy Moore, Ben Affleck and Mark Hamill are among the 30,000 residents currently under evacuation orders as the blazes continue to rage through Los Angeles.

Fueled by extreme Santa Ana winds, the Palisades fire cropped up on Tuesday morning in the Santa Monica mountains and is now the most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles’ history.

Separate blazes erupted miles away in Eaton Canyon and the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday night and continue to terrorize residents residing in the cities of Altadena, Pasadena and Sylmar.

Despite working through the night, firefighters have failed to contain any of the fires that have scorched over 25,000 acres of Southern California land.

Over 1,000 structures have been destroyed and, as of Wednesday, five people have died as a result of the catastrophic blazes, as per the LA Times.
