Cleveland native, Cincinnati police officer Marcellus Keyon Jones dies from 'medical emergency' at 33

Marcellus Keyon Jones was born in Cleveland in 1991 and attended Success Technical Academy High School.

Marcellus Keyon Jones, a Cincinnati police officer and native of Cleveland, passed away at the age of 33 on Saturday, March 15. The Cincinnati Police Historical Society reported that he suffered a “medical emergency.”

Being born in Cleveland in 1991, Jones attended Success Technical Academy High School. He continued his education at Bowling Green State University and the University of Akron.

Starting his law enforcement career with the Wilberforce University Police Department in 2018, Jones was promoted to Sergeant in February 2021. He then moved on to join the Cincinnati Police Department later in the same year.

Assigned Badge 537, Jones served in a patrol district before being transferred to the Youth Services Section, where he worked as a School Resource Officer at Hyde Park School.

Jones worked in both the Wilberforce and Cincinnati communities for over six years. 

The cause of Jones’s medical emergency has not been disclosed.
