Jan. 6 rioter among first to fight with cops arrested: Feds
Andrew Grigsby

Andrew Kyle Grigsby, pictured in the inset, was captured in a red square on camera allegedly using bear spray against law enforcement officers marked by the blue square during the events at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to the Department of Justice.

A 29-year-old Kentucky man was arrested for allegedly deploying bear spray at Capitol police officers on Jan. 6.

At 1:54 p.m., Grigsby was identified as one of the initial rioters who confronted the officers on the northwest stairwell of the Capitol steps. He now faces a series of charges including civil disorder, assaulting law enforcement officers with a dangerous weapon and causing bodily harm, illegally entering restricted government premises while armed, engaging in disorderly and disruptive behavior armed within the restricted premises, and committing acts of physical violence armed within the restricted government building.

For more information from Law&Crime: JD Vance diverges from Trump’s stance on the Capitol riots, asserting that those who engaged in violence on Jan. 6 should not be pardoned and must face legal consequences.

He was arraigned on the charges in Washington, D.C., on Friday. According to the FBI’s statement of facts about Grigsby’s alleged conduct, surveillance cameras showed him on the steps with a group of other rioters. As the mob was trying to break through the police line, Grigsby was seen holding a black canister, later determined to be bear spray, in his right hand. Grigsby allegedly raised the canister and dispersed the spray at cops, causing them to temporarily retreat.
