Minah Shannon has broken her silence on her brutal banishment on Wednesday’s dramatic episode of The Traitors.Â
Fans of the BBC series were shocked after Charlotte Berman threw her teammate Minah under the bus, just two days before the finale.
Call centre manager Minah, 29, had survived ten episodes as a Traitor after being picked by Claudia Winkleman in the very first episode.
But viewers had feared she was in trouble after she recruited Charlotte, who has infamously put on a fake Welsh accent during the series, last week.Â
Minah revealed her thoughts on Charlotte’s unexpected betrayal during the show’s spin-off, Uncloaked, which aired on Wednesday. She expressed regret over her choice of teammate, acknowledging that she should have been more cautious.
Reflecting on the situation, Minah shared, “Charlotte, I had accused her on the second round table and she had proven her faithfulness so in my head I thought she is the only female who has proven to everybody that she is one hundred percent faithful therefore surely she will think that I want to win with her.”
‘But looking back on it now, because I accused her she didn’t trust me one bit.’
Minah went on to say though that she wouldn’t change a thing about how she played the game. Â
She further added, “I want to say I’d pick different but if I’m being honest with you I wouldn’t do anything different, I didn’t win but I went out how I wanted to go out with integrity.” Minah emphasized the importance of staying true to herself and her principles despite the outcome.
‘I was clear in my mission which was a sisterhood. I tried where possible to protect Linda, I never made rumours about Charlotte.’
Of her possible other picks for a traitor, Minah mused: ‘Looking back I should have picked Lisa because Linda was out and in what world is there two older females? I thought she would have rather be murdered than accept and I didn’t want to put anyone out of the game in that way.’
‘I could have picked Frankie, but I just didn’t think Frankie was built to be a traitor. If I’d have known Leanne was in the army I would have picked her, but she always seemed very worried to me. Obviously that was a game plan for her.’
As the votes remained equal between Minah and Freddie on Wednesday’s dramatic episode, it was Charlotte’s vote which sealed Minah’s fate and left viewers rooting for the faithfuls to win.Â
Betraying the sisterhood, Charlotte explained: ‘I think you would make an amazing traitor, so I voted for you Minah.’Â
Talking to the camera, Minah was evidently taken aback as she exclaimed: ‘I cannot believe it. I really hoped that Charlotte would have had my back. She did me dirty.’Â
Feeling bad after her decision, Charlotte admitted: ‘Oooh I hope Minah will forgive me. I was just trying to think about my own self preservation and for myself and my husband’.
Taking to Twitter, fans were left heartbroken for Minah as they penned: ‘First time all series I’m rooting for the faithfuls to win, Minah deserved the win so much’.
‘Okay I don’t care now take Charlotte out I don’t care’; ‘Get in the bin Charlotte’; ‘Charlotte deserves to win, brilliant game playing’;Â
‘DIVA DOWN DIVA DOWN (I hope Charlotte and Freddie doesn’t win xxxx)’;Â
‘So Minah’s biggest downfall all along was actually seducing CHARLOTTE as a traitor!’;
‘Minah’s decision to recruit Charlotte has massively backfired’; ‘Oh MinahâĤ you will be missed’;
‘no because genuinely what is the point of watching anymore theres no minah and leanne will probably get murdered’;
‘Charlotte is winning this isnât she justice for my girl minah’; ‘the nation weeps’; ‘Ooiiiii she did Minah dirtier than laundry. Hats off to her though’;
‘The look on Minahâs face when Charlotte voted for her was pure gold’;
‘Minah was simply not the traitor that people have been arguing she is. She would have chosen her recruitments more wisely if she was. Charlotte is making the right moves.’
Earlier in the evening fans sent their ‘prayers for Minah’ after they took to social media to share their fears that her time in the show might be up.Â
Charlotte accepted Minah’s offer to join her as a Traitor during Thursday’s episode, however at the end of Friday’s episode it became clear that the new recruit would happily throw Minah under the bus.Â
After Minah was banished, Charlotte made the momentous decision to recruit Freddie as a traitor as she knew she could be ‘evil’ and take him down.Â
In intense scenes Charlotte attempted to convince Freddie that the pair should murder Leanne, despite her knowing she had the shield, therefore making Freddie looking guilty if the pair attempt to murder her and she doesn’t die.Â
She told viewers: ‘So I’ve basically already gone against Freddie but no risk no reward.’Â
Making their decision together, Charlotte said: ‘Welcome to our new home, your the first male member. Tonight is the last murder, obviously someone has the shield.Â
‘Someone has it and if we miss we miss. With Jake there is that he defended Minah. With Frankie she is a great ally to both of us.Â
‘Alexander is who we want to pin things on so I was thinking Leanne, she is a clear faithful and I think she is a risk to keep around. Of the four we should lock in Leanne.’Â
Freddie told the camera: ‘Omg this is so stressful, Leanne is my favourite person in here but now I’m a traitor I have to think of myself. I don’t know how to play this.’
Charlotte also sneakily told the camera: ‘I’ve decided to withhold from Freddie that I know Leanne has the shield so I’m going to use it to benefit me which is kind of evil.
‘If I can get him to murder Leanne she will come marching in at breakfast and the only two people who didn’t know are Freddie and Alexander.Â
‘This thought about Leanne is next level because if Freddie is on board it makes him look guilty and it will get me into the final and get me the glory.Â
‘I’ve been lying since day one, I don’t have a Welsh accent and what is another lie in this web I’ve woven. I’ve gone to the dark side now.’
Fans fear Freddie will fall for Charlotte’s trap however several were impressed with the smart cunning move and described her as the ‘best ever traitor’ and a ‘genius’.
