A Columbia, Missouri, father receives a call from his teenage daughter’s high school, reporting she is absent after missing all her classes.
A man repeatedly tries to contact his 15-year-old daughter. When she doesn’t respond, he hurries back from work to make sure she’s okay. He hopes she simply overslept or missed the bus, but she’s not at home. Some of her things, including her phone, are also gone.
Concerned, the father reports the teenager missing. Police suspect that she may have planned to leave home on purpose. Despite searching and her phone remaining inactive since her disappearance, investigators start questioning her friends. Peers mention that she might have been communicating with someone online.
Over four months later, law enforcement locates the girl hiding naked in a closet within a residence in Fort Collins, Colorado. She had been coerced into working in a snow shoveling company against her will.
