An Ohio woman was arrested on Friday after her 9-month-old child was found with multiple severe injuries, including broken bones and a black eye.
A 30-year-old woman named Kayla Sierra Williams has been charged with two counts of second-degree endangering children and five counts of third-degree endangering children, as per a report by WCHS.
According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Williams brought an infant to King’s Daughters Medical Center in Portsmouth on Friday. She was then advised by doctors to take the baby to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Surprisingly, the baby never reached the intended hospital, prompting medical staff to contact Child Services.
Child Services took the baby to Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth and removed Williams’ two other children from the home.
Following this incident, deputies visited Williams’ residence, interviewed individuals present at the home, and conducted an investigation. Subsequently, based on a report from doctors at the Columbus hospital, Williams was re-approached by the deputies and eventually taken into custody.
No further information was released.
She’s being held on a $350,000 bond and is due in court Monday.
