Massachusetts police are reportedly investigating the death of a woman found in her home last week as a homicide.
As reported by WCVB, Boston authorities found Shantel Gillespie, 30, deceased in her residence during a wellness check on December 12. While the police have stated that Gillespie might have been the victim of a homicide, her family has mentioned the possible involvement of domestic violence.
Boston police and Suffolk County prosecutors issued a joint statement saying, “Even though we are still waiting for an official cause and manner of death report from the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, we suspect that Ms. Gillespie’s passing is a result of homicide. Initial findings suggest that this was a targeted incident and that other residents in the building and the general public are not at risk.”
Officials noted that they do not believe the public is in danger. A suspect has not yet been publicly identified.
