On Tuesday, Oklahoma police arrested a woman whose 3-year-old daughter reportedly died of a drug overdose last year.
Khearston Brown’s daughter passed away when Tulsa police discovered her unconscious at their residence in May 2024, as reported by KOKI. Objects retrieved from the area allegedly indicated the presence of cocaine and fentanyl, substances that the medical examiner determined to be the cause of the child’s death.
The medical examiner’s report was completed on January 7, and Brown was formally charged on April 17.
An investigation revealed that Brown had given birth to six children since 2011, with five of them testing positive for drugs. Brown’s twins, born in 2023, were removed from her care by the Department of Human Services because they were born with cocaine and fentanyl in their systems, according to KOTV.
Brown is charged with child neglect in regard to her daughter’s death. She faces life in prison if convicted.
