Tracy Morgan is making a comeback in the entertainment industry by starring in a new NBC comedy pilot. The project will bring together Morgan with his longtime partners from the hit show 30 Rock, including Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, and Sam Means.
The upcoming single-camera series will revolve around Morgan’s character, a disgraced former football player who is on a mission to redeem his damaged reputation. In addition to his on-screen role, Morgan will also serve as an executive producer on the show, joining forces with Fey, Carlock, Means, Eric Gurian, and David Miner.

Directed and executive produced by Rhys Thomas, who has previously worked on Saturday Night Live, the pilot is currently in development under the collaboration between Universal Television, Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts.
This marks yet another creative partnership between Morgan and Fey, whose professional relationship dates back to their time together on Saturday Night Live and later on the Emmy-winning 30 Rock.

In a 2019 interview, Tracy Morgan fondly referred to Fey as “like a sister,” crediting her for recognizing his comedic talent early in his career. Their shared history has sparked anticipation for what could become another standout project.
The series promises to blend humor with themes of redemption as it follows Morgan’s character’s journey of self-discovery. While additional casting details remain under wraps, the involvement of such a seasoned creative team has already generated significant buzz.
If greenlit for a full series, this project would add to Morgan’s impressive resume, which includes his Emmy-nominated role as Tracy Jordan in 30 Rock and his recent stand-up special Tracy Morgan: Takin’ It Too Far.
