Nicole Kidman, 57, displays a remarkably tight complexion at the Gotham Awards

Nicole Kidman made a striking entrance at the 2024 Gotham Awards, where she is nominated for Outstanding Lead Performance for her role in Babygirl. 

The Oscar-winning actress, 57, appeared fresh-faced as she arrived at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Monday.

Dressed in a breathtaking black gown that accentuated her figure, Nicole embodied the essence of Hollywood glamour.

Her blonde locks framed her youthful face beautifully, and her poised demeanor radiated confidence and sophistication. 

Kidman takes on the role of a married executive engaged in a complex affair with a younger intern in the movie Babygirl. This character portrayal demonstrates her talent for portraying intricate and multi-dimensional roles.

Starting from 2021, the Gotham Awards have adopted gender-neutral categories. In this year’s edition, Kidman is a contender for the Outstanding Lead Performance award, facing tough competition from nominees like Pamela Anderson in The Last Showgirl, Demi Moore in The Substance, Colman Domingo in Sing Sing, Saoirse Ronan in The Outrun, Justice Smith in I Saw The TV Glow, Keith Kupferer in Ghostlight, Mikey Madison in Anora, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste in Hard Truths.

Pamela, the 57-year-old Baywatch icon, embraced her natural beauty, continuing her makeup-free journey.

Draped in a stunning gold strapless gown, the Canadian actress exuded Hollywood glamour. 

She wore an ensemble that included a large bow and a flowing train, perfectly enhancing her iconic platinum blonde hairstyle, which elegantly draped around her shoulders.

In The Last Showgirl, Anderson portrays a veteran Las Vegas performer navigating the twilight of her career, a role that has garnered significant critical acclaim.

The film, written by Kate Gersten, features an impressive ensemble cast including Jamie Lee Curtis as Shelly’s best friend, Dave Bautista as the show’s producer.

Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd play supporting roles.

Anderson’s performance has garnered critical acclaim, earning her the Marquee Award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. 

The 34th Annual Gotham Awards marks the official kickoff of the 2024-2025 awards season.

This year’s event introduces two new competitive categories: Best Director, which is being presented for the first time, and the return of the Breakthrough Performer award. 

The nominations highlight a diverse range of independent films, with Anora leading the pack with four nominations, followed by I Saw the TV Glow and Nickel Boys with three nominations each. 

Special tribute awards will be presented to several industry luminaries, including Denis Villeneuve receiving the Director Tribute for Dune: Part Two and Angelina Jolie receiving the Performer Tribute for Maria. 

The awards, presented by the Gotham Film & Media Institute, celebrate and nurture independent film and media creators, providing crucial recognition for emerging and established talent.

The Gotham Awards follows a poignant revelation about Kidman’s determination to mend relationships with her two older children, in the wake of her mother Janelle’s unexpected passing in September.

Reports suggest the actress is deeply saddened that her late mother never had the opportunity to reconnect with Isabella and Connor, the adopted children from her marriage to Tom Cruise.

A family friend confided to New Idea magazine, ‘Losing her mum has made Nicole not want to waste any more time. It hurt Janelle that she and husband Antony were estranged from [Isabella and Connor].’

Kidman and Cruise adopted Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29, in the early 90s. 

However, following their 2001 divorce, the children aligned with their father, and haven’t been seen publicly with Kidman since 2007.

‘They were their first two grandchildren and were once very close. It was a deep regret that they were unable to see her in person before she died,’ the source added, noting that this regret is ‘fuelling her need for a proper reconciliation.’

Kidman has four children: Bella and Connor with Cruise, and daughters Sunday, 16, and Faith, 13, with her current husband Keith Urban.

Her beloved mother Janelle died in September, just hours before Nicole was awarded Best Actress for her role in Babygirl on the final day of Venice Film Festival. 

‘Today I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother has just passed,’ Nicole revealed in a statement read by director Halina Reijn upon her win.

‘I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, guided and made me.

‘I am beyond grateful I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heart-breaking, and my heart is broken. We love you all.’

One week later, Nicole broke her silence and made a heart-wrenching Instagram statement alongside several never-before-seen photos of the matriarch.

In her post, the Perfect Couple star thanked her millions of fans and supporters for expressing their condolences during their time of grieving.

‘My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week,’ Nicole wrote in the joint statement.

‘Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. 

‘Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy.’ 

Kidman has always shared a deep bond with her beloved mother, Janelle, frequently acknowledging her support and influence throughout her career. 

Born in Hawaii, Nicole was raised in Sydney by Janelle and her father, Antony, a psychologist who passed away in September 2014. 

After spending some time in the United States, Nicole and her younger sister Antonia spent much of their childhood in Sydney, where she developed her passion for acting as a teenager, encouraged by both parents as she rose to global fame. 

Throughout her career, Nicole often turned to her mother for advice, reflecting their close relationship. 

She also had a strong bond with her father Antony, whose sudden death left her heartbroken. Nicole has previously shared that the unexpected loss of her father and other significant losses have profoundly impacted her life.
