Norah Jones’s Husband and Kids: The Singer Keeps Her Family Away from Media Buzz

Norah Jones’ husband, Pete Remm, is also a talented musician whose identity was kept a secret for many years. Remm is the father of Jones’ two beautiful children.

Norah Jones is a celebrated singer and songwriter whose songs are still popular decades later. Born Geetali Norah Jones Shankar, the musician launched her career via her 2002 album, “Come Away with Me.”

The release became a hit amongst music listeners and turned into a critically acclaimed album. Jones, who also shares her passion for music with her husband, Pete Remm, won five Grammy Awards for her work.

Jones was raised in a home of musical geniuses. Her father, Ravi Shankar, was an Indian sitar maestro, while her mother, Sue Jones, was a concert producer. Her parents divorced when she was still young, and although she came from a broken family, Jones wasn’t hesitant to have one of her own.

Norah Jones Has Been Notoriously Secretive about Her Personal Life

Although Jones’ successful career is known to the public, the entertainer prefers to keep her personal life shielded from the public, especially regarding her family. Her only known love interest was Lee Alexander, a boyfriend from the 2000s. According to Jones:

“I don’t do personal stuff, and that makes it kind of boring. People don’t seem to care too much, but when they do, it gets icky. I don’t even flirt with that anymore. I don’t want my private life to be in the public eye.”

Her relationship with Alexander made headlines when it ended in 2008. Alexander was her band’s bassist for years, and when the pair amicably parted ways, they remained friends.

Norah Jones’ Husband, Pete Remm, Is Also a Musician

For a long time, Jones kept the identity of her husband a secret. In a previous interview, she claimed he wanted to stay mysterious despite their close friends and family knowing of their relationship.

However, fellow singer Valerie June revealed his name to journalists during an interview with OPB.org. Despite the breach of privacy, Jones remained unbothered as she lived with her partner, Pete Remm, in Brooklyn.

Remm is also a talented musician – a keyboardist, pianist, and guitarist. He has recorded with known artists, including his wife. His other collaborations were with Ringo Starr, Mavis Staples, June, and Alberta Cross, among many others.

Remm has been influential in Jones’ growth as a musician and encourages her to try new instruments. During one birthday, he gifted his wife a drum set, which she now enjoys playing. She also learned to play the fiddle.

Norah Jones Welcomed Two Kids with Her Husband

Remm and Jones are parents to two beautiful children, a son and a daughter, whose names are not disclosed to the public. Although she rarely shares about her kids during interviews, Jones’ song “And Then There Was You” relates to them.

“I was thinking about my husband, but I finished it after I had my son,” she said. “I don’t feel being a mom has changed anything musically for me, but it changes how I can hear certain love songs.”

As a baby, Jones did not sing to her son. Instead, she would read him several books that kept her from playing with him or singing to him in the evening.

Jones gave a short update about her kids again in 2020, claiming they were too young to have musical aspirations. However, they became interested in music genres after watching the “Trolls World Tour” movie.

She and Remm enjoyed listening to music with their kids, including pop radio. Fortunately, their two children like Jones’ music, which makes her happy.

Although it is too soon to tell if Remm and Jones’ children will follow in their footsteps as musicians, several other singers have passed their legacy on to their children, including Naomi Judd.

Naomi Judd, twice married, has two children, Wynonna Judd and Ashley Judd, who became entertainers. Wynonna specifically became a singer and formed a two-women band with her mom.
