THIS is the moment that cops cradle a police dog after he was shot twice in the line of duty.
The brave pooch, Rocky, was injured while hunting a killer in a Houston manhunt, as his poor face shows his pain during the heartbreaking episode.
The devastating footage shows posted on Thursday several US task force agents surrounding the wounded hero as the quickly carry him to safety.
Rocky doesn’t appear to be moving as he lays helplessly in their arms, after he was shot in the neck and nose.
At one point, the men have to stop and put Rocky down because of how much pain he was in.
Towards the end of the clip, Rocky’s eyes can be seen darting around, possibly in confusion or panic.
Luckily, Rocky managed to make a full recovery.
He’s an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois who has only been on the job for six months.
The video has been making the rounds on X, as several people rushed to the comments to offer their support.
The caption of the video reads: “K9 Rocky is an amazing dog.
“He took a bullet in the line of duty while locating a killer.
“His actions saved lives. Sadly, Rocky is undergoing emergency surgery, but is expected to survive.
“He would make an awesome choice for a White House dog under Trump.”
Social media users paid their respect to Rocky in the replies.
One person wrote: “The bond between these officers is strong and unbreakable.”
Another person said: “We’re sending you belly rubs and tail wags!
“Stay strong, buddy—your paws are made for greatness, and we know you’ll be back to sniffin’ out the bad guys in no time!”
And a third commented: “We hope K9 Rocky recovers!”
Since then, Rocky has made a full recovery, and can be seen in a separate clip back on his paws, better than ever.
The brave dog is walked out of the vet with a spring in his step after making through his surgery.
This was posted only two days after Rocky was in critical condition.
T. Michael O’Connor, who serves as the U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Texas, expressed deep gratitude towards the Westbury staff for their role in helping Rocky survive the incident.
Despite the tragic loss of Deputy Vargas on Wednesday, law enforcement officials acknowledge that the situation could have been even more dire if Rocky had not been present at the scene.
“He is a hero. We all wish him a speedy recovery.”
A recent update shared that Rocky, the K9 wounded during a manhunt in Houston as part of a US Marshal’s task force, has been discharged from the hospital and is on track for a full recovery.
People were overwhelmed with happiness in the comments, with one person writing: “I am so happy to see that! Stay safe Rocky!”
It is not known if and when Rocky will be put out on service again, but hopefully he gest some needed vacation time so he can recover fully.
Rocky was shot whilst chasing a suspect in the death of Brazoria County Sheriff’s deputy Jesus Vargas.
The K-9 alerted officers to a dumpster in which the suspect hid after shooting Vargas.
