Police this week searched the suburban Detroit home of an ex-boyfriend of a missing mother of two who disappeared last week.
Ashley Elkins, aged 30, went missing on January 2 after she left to do some errands, as reported by WJBK. She worked as a hair stylist and allegedly sent a message to someone saying she was on her way home from a beauty supply store. However, there has been no sign of her since then.
Authorities mentioned that her car was discovered abandoned in Roseville on Tuesday, close to the residence of her former boyfriend. Family members revealed that her phone’s last known location was near his apartment.
Police confirmed they have spoken with the ex several times and have searched his apartment. Sources also said they took a dumpster as evidence.
Elkins’ mother, Monika Elkins, told WXYZ that the ex-boyfriend booked an appointment at her daughter’s home salon using a fake name on December 31.
Monika Elkins stated, “It was him, and (her sisters) were in the house quiet. She told (her sisters) to be quiet. He knocked on the front door and the side door and he left. And here, it’s … days later and she’s gone.”
