A family dog apparently preventing a kidnapping Saturday afternoon when a man entered a St. Petersburg backyard and grabbed a toddler’s arm.
An incident occurred around noon when 36-year-old Ron Lee Klein Jr. entered the backyard and attempted to pick up a 2-year-old boy, as reported by WFLA.
The family dog stood up to the intruder, alerting someone inside the house. This person rushed outside, shouting at Klein, who then released the child and ran away.
Police found Klein in the area and arrested him.
He’s been charged with attempted kidnapping and trespassing and is being held without bond.
Police did not provide any information about the dog and, apparently, local reporters didn’t ask.
