Rickey Smiley Had a Wife Who Remained ‘Family’ despite Their Divorce

On the list of his ex-partners, Rickey Smiley married an unidentified woman he remained “faithful” to for many years. Although no other woman has claimed the title of Rickey Smiley’s wife, the comedian has created a blended family with his children, their mothers, and their new partners.

Rickey, a standup comedian and television host most commonly known for “The Rickey Smiley Show,” is enjoying life as a single man following his split from his ex-partners and his ex-wife of twelve years.

Although he is a regular on the acting scene, very little is known about the women with whom he once had relationships. However, the “Rickey Smiley for Real” actor is known to have a type — all-natural women.

Although he is no longer in a relationship with his exes, the comedian does share children with some of them. And in January 2023, Rickey announced that he and his former partner were mourning the loss of their son.

During an interview in 2022, Rickey revealed that he had been married for over a decade. Although he does not mention his ex-wife by name, Rickey shared that the exes remained friends despite their divorce. He said:

“I was married for twelve years. I was faithful to my wife— never cheated, never did nothing… We cool; they become family” [sic].

Rickey revealed that his ex-wife worked for Delta Airlines when they met and still worked for the airline. He would hop on a flight from time to time and see her on duty. After their divorce, Rickey’s ex-wife found love again with a judge in Detroit.

In 2022, Rickey spent the festive holidays with his children, their mother, and her husband. He posted a picture of the happy blended family on Facebook and captioned it, “My kids, their Mother, and Stepdad!!! Hope you had a Merry Christmas!!!!!”

While it might be unconventional for some, a few of Rickey’s fans took to the comment section and shared that they supported his blended family. “Love this family always,” one person wrote, as another said, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. You have a beautiful family.”

Another commented, “I love how Rickey communicates with his kids’ mothers. Everyone is respectful. I like that,” and a fourth shared, “Happy Holidays Smiley Family! It’s so nice to see Family Unity!”

In 2018, the comedian discovered that his former girlfriend was relocating from Columbia to America with her fiancé and her daughter, whom she shares with Rickey while scrolling on Facebook. He said.

“I’m really happy for her; you know, I’m not a hater.”

On January 29, 2023, Rickey took to social media and announced that his son, Brandon, had passed away. In the Instagram video, Rickey shared that he was going to the airport to catch a flight to Birmingham.

The television host expressed that he wanted to share the news with his fans before they heard it elsewhere. In the caption, he wrote:

“I’m okay, but please pray for my son’s mother, Brenda, his siblings, and his daughter, Storm.”

Brandon was 32 at the time of death, with a three-year-old daughter, Storm. He also left behind his mom, his brother Malik, and sisters D’Essence, Taylor, and Aaryn.

Numerous famous faces, including Niecy Nash, Kandi Burruss, and Tajari P. Henson, flooded Rickey’s comments section with wishes and prayers. While the cause of Brandon’s death was not revealed, he did have a past with substance abuse.

In 2018, Brandon announced that his drinking problems had contributed to the end of his relationship with a former girlfriend. “I called dad one day, and I broke down to him, and I was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore. I have a problem,'” Brandon said. After his son turned to him for help, Rickey checked him into rehab.
