Woman dies after struck by vehicle while walking dog in Ashtabula County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it happened on Route 20 in the area of Blair Avenue.

A tragic incident occurred in Ashtabula County, Ohio, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old woman named Gabriele Reo. She was fatally hit by a vehicle while walking her dog on Monday night along Route 20 near Blair Avenue in Ashtabula Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it was around 7:18 p.m. when troopers were dispatched to the scene.

According to authorities, the initial findings from their investigation indicate that a 2016 Chevrolet Trax, driven by a 26-year-old from Conneaut, was heading westbound when it collided with Reo and her dog.

Reo was taken to the Ashtabula Regional Medical Center where she later died.

The Ashtabula County Dog Warden responded to the scene to assist with the handling of the dog.

While the Highway Patrol says the crash remains under investigation, it did not indicate if the driver is facing any charges.
