A BODY has been found in Spain believed to be missing Belfast man John George.
John, 37, was reported missing as his sister said she was “worried sick” after not hearing from the father of two.
The dad from Belfast was reported missing after he failed to get on his flight back to Northern Ireland before Christmas.
John had reportedly been holidaying at a friend’s home in Alicante until he left to meet friends in Benidorm.
His sister, Courtney George, said the unemployed father hadn’t contacted her for a number of days.
She had made a desperate plea for information as he wouldn’t usually go 48 hours without talking to her.
Courtney shared that when John initially went missing just prior to the holiday season, his two young sons, aged 13 and six, had fervently appealed to Santa Claus to ensure their father’s presence at home on Christmas Day.
The pharmacy assistant said at the time that “all his kids want for Christmas is for him to come home”.
Courtney also explained why the father of two had initally travelled to Spain.
She added: “We’ve lost a family member recently and he was really upset and thought he needed a holiday.
“His youngest is very confused and the 13-year-old has seen everything on social media and is very distressed.
“They love their daddy.”
Courtney had said that the family were looking to send a search party out to Alicante and Benidorm to look for John in a GoFundMe page she set up.
The site had been created on 22 December 2024.
She added: “It’s family time so nobody will be looking for our family when they want to spend it with their own.
“It’s very urgent because places close and people go on holiday.”
Upon receipt of the report regarding the vanishing of the 37-year-old individual, the Police Service of Northern Ireland acknowledged the situation and noted that they had initiated an investigation into the matter.
