Jimmy Kimmel had strong words of disapproval for President Donald Trump following his self-congratulatory remarks while acknowledging the Kansas City Chiefs for securing their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance.
The President “took to Truth Social to congratulate the Chiefs and himself,” Kimmel explained on Monday’s (Jan. 27) Live.
Sharing a snapshot of Trump’s Truth Social post, Kimmel highlighted the president’s praise for not only the Chiefs but also himself and his supporters, emphasizing the fans who voted for him. This statement drew attention to Trump’s tendency to intertwine personal accolades with public acknowledgments.
The Live audience laughed as Kimmel pointed out, “That’s right. The real AFC champion is Donald Trump.”
The Kansas City Chiefs will be facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles for the first time since 2023.
Continuing his ongoing criticism of Trump, Kimmel has consistently targeted the former president’s policies, cabinet selections, and familial connections. Most recently, Kimmel scrutinized Trump and House Republicans for their renewed investigation into the events of January 6, particularly after Trump had previously pardoned a significant number of individuals involved in the Capitol insurrection.
“In other words, get ready for a whole year of someone trying to convince us Nancy Pelosi pooped in her own desk,” Kimmel quipped.
He added that we already “know who is responsible for Jan. 6.”
“He’s sitting in the White House right now playing whack-a-mole with his Diet Coke button,” he quipped.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
