MULTIPLE people have been injured after a gunman reportedly drove a truck into a church and opened fire.
A heroic security guard at the church in Wayne, Michigan, took quick action and shot the suspect, police have said.



Cops confirmed the suspected gunman was dead by the time they arrived on scene.
The shooting is reported to have taken place around 11:15 am local time at Crosspointe Community Church.
A Sunday service began there just minutes before at 10:45 am.
According to a police source, the male gunman drove his truck into the church and opened fire, per ABC News affiliate WXYZ.
Multiple people have been injured, but the severity of these injuries is not yet known, the sources told the outlet.
Cops confirmed that one person was shot in the leg but gave no further details.
Locals have been told to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
“The Wayne Police Department responded to an active shooter at Crosspointe Church in Wayne this morning,” the City of Wayne, Michigan Police Department wrote on Facebook.
“Upon arrival, officers determined that a security guard for the church shot and killed the suspect.
“One victim was shot in the leg. Please avoid the area.
“Officers are still actively investigating.”
‘SAVED THE DAY’
In response to the statement, locals praised the heroic security guard who took out the active shooter, claiming they heard “at least 100 rounds of gunfire”.
“That security guard saved the day,” local Ethan Wagemann wrote in the comments.
“I heard it all sounded like it was right outside. Sounded like at least 100 rounds of machine gun fire.
“After I heard what sounded maybe 3 handgun shots there was no more machine gun fire.”
“Prayers to the Security Guard. He should get a Key to the City for his bravery and for possibly saving countless other lives,” another said.
A third added that the police response “was phenomenal”.
Westland City Councilwoman Melissa Sampey thanked officers assisting in the investigation and urged people to “pray for all involved”.
