Simon Cooney search as dad missing with daughter Autumn after attack and car found abandoned

An urgent search is underway to find a three-year-old girl who has disappeared with her father following an assault in a seaside town popular with Yorkshire tourists.

Police are desperately trying to find Simon Cooney, 35, and his daughter Autumn. It follows an assault which happened in a car in the area of Kingscoat in Blackpool, at about 4am this morning, Monday, August 28. In the attack, a woman was punched in her face and bitten on her hand.

The woman fled from the car, which Autumn was inside of. Autumn stayed in the car and now officers from Lancashire Police are “extremely concerned for her welfare” as they search for the dad and daughter. The car has since been found abandoned in Lakeway, Blackpool.

The force are working on the theory that Autumn may be with Mr Cooney but they could have “travelled anywhere”. Anyone who sees Mr Cooney are warned not to ‘not approach him’, but call 999 ‘straight away’.

In a missing appeal released at around 1.20pm this afternoon, the force said of images of the father and daughter: “This is Simon Cooney, 35, and his daughter Autumn Cooney, aged three. We also urgently need to find Autumn, who remained in the car, as we are extremely concerned for her welfare.

“We believe she may be with Simon, however the car has since been located abandoned on Lakeway, Blackpool, and they could have travelled anywhere.

“We now are asking anybody who has seen them, or has information about where they might be, to get in touch straight away. Simon is described as white, approximately 6ft tall, of slim build, with a shaven head and a beard. He has links to both Blackpool and Preston.

“Autumn has shoulder-length, blonde hair. If you see Simon, please do not approach him, but contact us straight away on 999. Similarly, if you see Autumn please tell us immediately by calling 999.

“With any other information please call 101, quoting log 211 of August 28th.”
