Kody Brown of ‘Sister Wives’ Criticized for Lack of Accountability Following ‘Soulmate’ Comments

TLC fans are not buying Kody Brown‘s recent claims about his relationship with his only remaining wife, Robyn Brown.

The reality TV star from “Sister Wives” faced criticism after a segment from the show captured him discussing the dissolution of his polygamous family. During a confessional, Kody mentioned to the cameras that Robyn could possibly be his “soulmate.”

This statement caused backlash from viewers who felt he was avoiding responsibility for his treatment of his former wives. Kody Brown was previously married to four women, but they ultimately decided to part ways due to ongoing disputes over his perceived favoritism towards Robyn.

TLC posted a clip of Kody’s contentious remarks on their Instagram page, where he reminisced about the day his ex-wife, Christine Brown, left. He suggested that Christine ended their relationship because she recognized that his affections lay with Robyn.

“When Christine left, she told her children, our children, and even some of Janelle’s children, ‘Dad has a soulmate. That’s Robin. I wanna be free to go find my soul mate,'” Kody shared, adding:

“When she first told everybody that, that pissed me off. But as time has gone on, it’s it’s, they’re they’re gone. I’m out of this relationship with these other wives. I’m, like, way more inclined to accept that.”

Kody’s remarks sparked numerous comments from displeased fans, who found his lack of accountability annoying. Many slammed him for treating his former wives — Christine, Janelle, and Meri — poorly while favoring Robyn.

“He won’t ever take accountability for what he did to his family!”An IG user declared, noting that they understood why he was estranged from his children. They used their experience with their father to relate to Kody’s kids, adding:

“There’s little you can do when you have a dad that constantly gaslights, lies, manipulates, and, most importantly, won’t take accountability for his actions and the impact they’ve had on your life! I hope they all find healing.”

Another critic echoed similar sentiments, writing, “He loves making up what Christine told the kids. They saw how he treated their moms vs how he was with Robyn for years.” A third critic penned, “There’s no one left. He has no choice but to call crying Robyn his soulmate.”

Despite Kody’s “soulmate” claims, things between him and Robyn haven’t been great amid his three divorces. In September, The Blast shared that the pair were going through a rough patch in their marriage, which they confirmed on their show.

“We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage. It’s been tough. It’s been tough between us,” Robyn confessed. Kody echoed her concerns, noting they were in a “struggling place.” His only remaining wife blamed their issues on the other wives leaving, saying:

“Kody’s feeling a lot of rejection. And so, I think he’s kind of looking at me going, ‘Are you going to reject me too?‘ I’m on my toes. I’m having to consistently make sure that he is not sabotaging our relationship.“

While reflecting on her problems with Kody, Robyn stressed that she never signed up to be his only wife. She lamented the loss of the family dynamic that once defined their lives, noting:

“I miss the family experience, you know, the kids, and I miss the camaraderie that I did have with my sister wives.”

Although she never wanted a monogamous relationship, Robyn shared her determination to stay with Kody until the end. Meanwhile, the Brown family’s patriarch credited his remaining wife with helping him navigate his divorces and staying by his side with love.

Following the rocky patch in Kody and Robyn’s relationship, former wives Christine and Janelle weighed in on the situation. The Blast reported in October that they sat down for a joint interview and downplayed the couple’s drama.

“I think they’re fine,” Christine declared, with Janelle adding, “I actually feel like that’s probably normal couple relationship dynamics.” Christine believed the rift between Kody and Robyn stemmed from them adjusting to their monogamous marriage.

“You know that that’s got to be really hard on him. It’s, what, three divorces in two years? So, their relationship will probably have some things they have to figure out,” Christine noted. She doubled down on Kody and Robyn being “fine,” declaring they would be “great together.”
