An East Ridge, Tennessee after police found covered in blood—his father’s blood.
WDEF reports that on Thursday evening, police arrived at the 1400 block of Greenslake Road to find Caleb Disterdick, 26, covered in blood.
A neighbor called the police after Disterdick approached him while he was mowing, according to News Channel 9.
Once Disterdick was taken into police custody, officers followed a trail of blood leading from the backyard into the house. Inside, they came across a deceased man who had been beheaded. The man was identified as Jason “Chirs” Disterdick, Caleb Disterdick’s father.
Jason Disterdick was said to have been decapitated with a large knife still embedded in his neck, according to the affidavit.
Caleb Disterdick suffered a leg injury, prompting the emergency medical services to be summoned. At that point, Disterdick uttered sporadic statements, including, “I had to protect the kids,” as detailed in the affidavit acquired by News Channel 9.
Following initial medical attention at Erlanger, Disterdick was placed under police custody. Statements in the affidavit reveal that Disterdick confessed, multiple times, to the act, saying, “I killed my dad” during the interrogation conducted by the authorities, reports WDEF.
Caleb Disterdick has been charged with criminal homicide, according to News Channel 9.
