A man accused of killing his sister late last year has been extradited back to South Carolina after he fled to North Carolina following the murder.
The body of Lisa Rosenzweig, 53, was found in her home on November 9 after her daughter requested a welfare check, WSOC reported.
Prosecutors revealed that Rosenzweig had been providing housing for her brother, Anthony Lopez, who was later apprehended in Charlotte on December 6, as reported by the Rock Hill Herald.
During the court hearing, Detective Robert Smith from the Rock Hill Police mentioned, “When Lisa Rosenzweig returned home, she found her brother, who is present in court today, waiting for her. She had given him a place to stay to help him off the streets, but tragically, he ended up fatally attacking her.” This statement was extracted from a court hearing covered by WSOC.
Detectives said Rosenzweig was bludgeoned to death.
Lopez, who has opted not to have legal representation, is self-representing himself in the murder case. WCCB reported that he could potentially face the death penalty if found guilty. As he entered the courtroom on Friday, Lopez advised journalists to adhere to both divine laws and societal laws, as noted by the news outlet.
He was ordered held without bond and is expected back in court in March.
