As we journey through the holiday season, this puzzle serves as a delightful way to kickstart your festive mood.

It might remind you of white Christmases as a child when all the neighbours got together to play in the snow.

The villagers in this scene are up to all sorts!

Some are speeding down hills on sleds and others are building some impressive looking snowmen.

There is even a frozen lake – and people are taking the opportunity to skate across it.

…or perhaps this doesn’t remind you of your own Christmases, because a white Christmas just never seems to happen.

Usually we are treated instead to the sight of drizzle and grey clouds.

But at least the folk in this picture are enjoying themselves.

We can only hope to be so lucky this year.

Scan the snowy village carefully and see if you can spot the naughty Christmas elf.

If you’re struggling, try zooming in on the picture.

It’s a tricky one, so don’t worry if you haven’t got it yet.

Some useful information about our elf: he likes hiding behind things.

(Particularly green, tree-shaped things).

Only those with perfect eye sight and a lightening fast brain will solve this in under 11 seconds.

But that is a rare combination of gifts – it will take most people much longer.

How can optical illusions and brainteasers help me?

Engaging in activities like solving optical illusions and brainteasers can have many cognitive benefits as it can stimulate various brain regions.

Some benefits include:

  • Cognitive stimulation: Engaging in these activities challenges the brain, promoting mental agility and flexibility.
  • Problem-solving skills: Regular practice enhances analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Memory improvement: These challenges often require memory recall and can contribute to better memory function.
  • Creativity: They encourage thinking outside the box, fostering creativity and innovative thought processes.
  • Focus and attention: Working on optical illusions and brainteasers requires concentration, contributing to improved focus.
  • Stress relief: The enjoyable nature of these puzzles can act as a form of relaxation and stress relief.

Psychologists at The University of Glasgow found that staring at an optical illusion can improve eye sight by allowing you to see small print.

Escape London says puzzles can also give your mind a great workout and may “boost your brain’s activity” which “reduces the risk of dementia.”

These can help to stimulate several parts of the brain at the same time.

Tasks like this can also provide people with a productive way to have fun and relax.
