This black-and-white sketch looks at first like a detailed drawing of a mountainous landscape.

But, upon closer inspection, more details will reveal themselves.

This is because it is not just a drawing but an optical illusion.

As well as being a drawing of a landscape, it is also an image of animals.

They are all incorporated into the scene of nature meaning that one element such as the branches on a tree could also be something else.

Set your timer and see how many animals you can find in nine seconds.

There are 10 animals that you should be able to spot – some are easier to find than others.

According to the creators at Jagran Josh, only 10 per cent of readers can find all of the creatures.

Perhaps it helps if you know what you are looking for.

Once you see the list you may think that one of the animals is a bit of a trick by the creators of the illusion.

Everyone can see the tree but you need 20-20 vision to spot the 5 hidden birds

Here is a list of what you need to find:

  • Parrot
  • Bull
  • Elephant
  • Deer
  • Crocodile
  • Horse
  • Goose
  • Fox
  • Rooster
  • A human

Some players have suggested that there is an eleventh animal – a frog.

See if you can spot that one too.

How can optical illusions and brainteasers help me?

ENGAGING in activities like solving optical illusions and brainteasers can have many cognitive benefits as it can stimulate various brain regions.

Understanding optical illusions becomes easier when we realize that it’s not just our eyes but also our brains that are responsible for processing what we see. Our brains take on the crucial role of creating images and ensuring our safety from potential threats.

While our eyes perceive the world in 3D, the images that are sent to our brains are actually in 2D. As a result, our brains have the challenging task of deciphering these 2D images and translating them into a coherent understanding of the 3D world around us.

Given the complexity of this task, our brains often opt for shortcuts to quickly interpret visual information. This simplification allows for rapid responses to possible dangers, ensuring our survival in threatening situations.

When you look at an object what you’re really seeing is the light that bounced off of it and entered your eye, which is converted into electrical impulses that your brain then turns into an image.

Our brains can warp straight lines if an object in the middle of them looks like it’s drawing closer as it wants to emphasize the potential threat.

Different colours and light and dark can make the same-sized objects look different or make patterned images look like they’re spinning.

Some benefits include:

  • Cognitive stimulation: These activities challenge the brain, promoting mental agility and flexibility.
  • Problem-solving skills: Regular practice enhances analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Memory improvement: These challenges often require memory recall and can contribute to better memory function.
  • Creativity: They encourage thinking outside the box, fostering creativity and innovative thought processes.
  • Focus and attention: Working on optical illusions and brainteasers requires concentration, contributing to improved focus.
  • Stress relief: The enjoyable nature of these puzzles can act as a form of relaxation and stress relief.

When you are ready to see the solution, scroll down and all will be revealed.

The additional frog that is not part of the original puzzle can be seen at the base of the tree trunk on the left-hand side of the image.
