A California-based fitness influencer was allegedly gunned down by her ex-husband, who also shot and killed a man she was on a date with.
A woman named Gloria Zamora, aged 40, and Hector Garduno, aged 43, were both victims of a shooting incident that took place outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana. According to Fontana Police Officer Steve Reed, Zamora, who was in the process of divorcing her estranged husband, Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, was shot alongside Garduno, allegedly by Lizarraga himself.
Lizarraga, aged 45 and the estranged husband of Zamora, was shot and killed by an off-duty deputy from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office after he fired at Zamora and Garduno, who are parents to a total of eleven children. The tragic incident unfolded in the parking lot of the restaurant.

Officer Reed revealed that Lizarraga first targeted Garduno with gunfire before directing his weapon at Zamora. The initial shots were heard by several off-duty members of law enforcement who were coincidentally present in the vicinity of the restaurant on Summit Avenue at the time of the incident. The off-duty deputy who intervened and shot Lizarraga took action to protect the lives of the victims.
The unnamed, off-duty sheriff’s deputy drove toward the source of the sound and exited his vehicle to confront Lizarraga. He then fatally shot Lizarraga.
Zamora and Garduno were taken to the hospital, where they died from their gunshot wounds.
Several sources, including The Huffington Post, reported that Zamora had openly discussed her pending divorce on the Herizon podcast. Zamora, a fitness influencer with around 150,000 Instagram followers, had described the toxic aspects of her relationship with Lizarraga on an episode released on June 16, less than a week before her death.
During the podcast, Zamora discussed how her marriage to Lizarraga — her second marriage — was “falling apart,” describing how her growing popularity as an influencer had a negative impact on their relationship.
Zamora told Herizon host Isene, “Instead of [him] being supportive, [he’s] over here trying to, like, bring me down,” including making disparaging remarks about her appearance. The clip was posted to Instagram with the caption, “With husbands like these, who needs enemies?”
