At least one person was shot Thursday morning at a suburban Detroit hospital in a targeted shooting at the facility’s parking garage.
As reported by WXYZ, the individual suspected of the crime, who is an employee at the hospital, was apprehended shortly after a police press briefing regarding the shooting. Law enforcement officers stated that they went to a residence in Macomb Township, contacted the suspect by phone, and upon his exit from the house, he was placed under arrest.
Prior to this, Troy Police Lieutenant Ben Hancock mentioned that the victim, a 25-year-old man, sustained two gunshot wounds to the arm and was in a stable condition. Hancock added that both the victim and the male perpetrator were employed at the hospital.
“We know who we’re looking for,” he said, adding that the victim had identified the shooter.

Hancock said the hospital and local schools were put on lockdown as investigators swarmed the area looking for the shooter.
The gunman fired five rounds at the victim, Hancock said. Some of the rounds hit the victim’s vehicle. He could not say what prompted the shooting but said the victim and the attacker were known to each other.
The hospital said it had put the facility on lockdown and that the victim was receiving treatment in the emergency room, advising that everyone avoid the area and call if they had services scheduled, WXYZ reported.
