Two self-proclaimed misogynists, Andrew and Tristan Tate, have been accused in the United Kingdom with a range of charges, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and prostitution.
The charges against the influencer brothers were approved by prosecutors earlier this year but were not made public, as reported by The Associated Press. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed these charges on Wednesday.
The Tates are dual US and British citizens who have lived since 2016 in Romania, where they were arrested and charged in 2022 with similar charges.
Andrew Tate, aged 38, is facing 10 charges, while his younger brother, aged 36, is facing 11 charges. The allegations relate to incidents that occurred between 2012 and 2015, according to prosecutors.
“They do this to any man who fights against them,” Tate said on social media after the charges were announced. “Never give up, men. Never give in. Do not be scared.”
Romanian courts have issued an order to send the former professional kickboxers to the UK once their case in Romania is finished, Crown prosecutors said.
The AP said the brothers’ current whereabouts are not clear. They were seen a week ago outside a police station in Romania, where they have to report regularly while on house arrest there.
