A gym teacher at a New York school for autistic students was arrested last week for reportedly exposing himself to his students.
Last Tuesday, at P.S. 723 in the Bronx, an alleged incident took place. According to sources cited by the New York Post, Dana Barschdorf, aged 44, reportedly placed his genitals inside a Lysol wipes container in front of a group of six students.
Barschdorf allegedly also wiped his buttocks with a Lysol wipe in the students’ presence.
Reports from WABC mentioned that Barschdorf’s students were between the ages of 9 and 11. The New York Post stated that other faculty members alerted the authorities about the incident.
Barschdorf appeared in court on Wednesday and entered a plea of not guilty to charges of second-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, harassment, and exposure of a person (public lewdness). He was subsequently released from custody without being required to post bail.
The Department of Education said in a statement issued to WABC that Barschdorf was reassigned pending an investigation.
“This alleged behavior is completely unacceptable,” the federal agency said.
Barschdorf is due back in court on February 14.
