A man in Texas has been arrested by the police for driving a teenage girl and her boyfriend from Galveston County to Laredo. The couple were suspects in the killing of the girl’s grandmother earlier this month.
The teenagers, Tara King, 17, and Uriah Urick, 18, were apprehended in Laredo on February 9. This incident occurred four days after the body of Tara King’s grandmother, Tammy King, was discovered during a welfare check at her home in Bacliff, as reported by CrimeOnline.
Investigators said that Tammy King, 61, had at least one gunshot wound. Urick and Tara King have been charged with capital murder.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office revealed on Wednesday that they had apprehended a 35-year-old man named Travis Hodge during a routine traffic stop. It was determined that he was the individual who had driven Uriah Urick and Tara King to Laredo in an attempt to help them evade law enforcement following the crime.
Investigators found Hodge “in possession of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and plastic baggies consistent with distribution of methamphetamine,” the sheriff’s office said.
Hodge reportedly told detectives he was a convicted felon and that Urick and Tara King gave him stolen firearms — possibly weapons that were missing from Tammy King’s home. Investigators found two firearms, ammunition, and other evidence in Hodge’s storage shed.
Hodge has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, and hindering apprehension. He’s being held without bond in the Galveston County jail.
