Police in Sheffield have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to after a woman was attacked on a tram.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was travelling on a tram at around 6pm on Friday, May 5, when an unknown man sat near her and behaved in a way that made her feel uncomfortable. When she left the tram at Middlewood, the man followed her and grabbed her arm.
She was able to push the man away and started to make her way home – only for the man to reappear and begin following her again. He then lingered in the area staring at her in silence.
Police report the man did not say anything and the victim was uninjured although she was left “incredibly distressed”. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Police in Sheffield have released an image of a person they believe could hold important information relating to a woman being followed and assaulted last month.
“He is not thought to have said anything and while the victim was not injured, she was left incredibly distressed by the incident. Officers have released an image of an individual they think could help with their enquiries and want to hear from him, or anyone who recognises him.”
