A Bell County judge in Texas ruled Tuesday to increase Caysen Allison’s maximum sentence from two years to 10 years.
Allison was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide in April for the fatal stabbing of his classmate in 2022, according to a report by KCEN-TV. Recently, there were discussions in court regarding the possibility of adding a deadly weapon enhancement to Allison’s charges. This enhancement could potentially increase his sentencing range from a maximum of two years in state jail to two to 10 years in prison.
According to information shared by CrimeOnline in the past, it was revealed that Allison, then 18 years old, stabbed Jose Luis “Joe” Ramirez Jr., who was also 18, multiple times during a confrontation involving multiple students at Belton High School on May 18, 2022.
During the altercation at the school, which took place inside a bathroom and involved Allison, Ramirez, and four other boys, it was mentioned that Ramirez had previously confronted Allison at an after-prom event. This was after Allison had allegedly acted aggressively towards a friend’s date. Despite agreeing to settle their differences through a fight at a later time, the two crossed paths unexpectedly in the bathroom.
Ramirez said that if they were going to fight, they should go ahead and fight in the bathroom, according to witness testimony. Witnesses also said the bathroom brawl was not planned, and that Allison said he did not want to fight before Ramirez threw a punch at him. Allison then stabbed Ramirez multiple times, including in the chest, arms and buttocks.
Bell County court records indicated that Judge Wade Faulkner ruled a deadly weapon was used in the attack.
Sentencing has been scheduled for June 16. Check back for updates.
