The sentencing trial of a man guilty of killing a Houston family of three has come to a close.
Xavier Davis, aged 30, changed his plea to guilty just moments before the trial commenced on March 24. He admitted to the killings of Donyavia Lagway (29), Gregory Carhee (35), and Harmoney Carhee (6). Following his guilty plea, the case transitioned directly into the sentencing phase. The jury was tasked with deciding whether Davis would face the death penalty, as reported by Fox 26.
The prosecution presented their case over a span of 10 days, wrapping up on April 4. Subsequently, the defense initiated their testimony on April 7 and concluded on April 16.
On Thursday, the jury returned its decision, sentencing Davis to death, as reported by Fox 26.
As previously reported by CrimeOnline, Alexus Chenelle Williams hired Xavier Davis as a “hitman.”
The tragic event unfolded in June 2021 at an apartment situated in the 12100 block of Fondren. Lagway, who was pregnant, resided in the apartment with her spouse and their daughter.
According to prosecutors, Williams and Lagway had an affair, but Lagway ended the relationship and went back to her husband. At that point, Williams allegedly hired Davis to kill Lagway and her entire family.
The family’s 10-year-old daughter was critically injured during the attack but survived. She reportedly played dead while shielding her infant brother after the alleged killer threw him across the room.
KHOU reported that Williams was also arrested and charged with capital murder. She is due in court in April for a pre-trial hearing.
