An altercation between two Texas middle school students resulted in the death of one student.
14-year-old Serenity Baker was tragically killed on Monday at Roy J. Smith Middle School in Killeen in a stabbing incident involving another 14-year-old student, as reported by Click2Houston.
Following the attack, Serenity was quickly taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries and passed away around midday, according to the Killeen Police Department.
The 14-year-old suspect has been taken into custody. Due to her age, the teen’s name has not been released, Click2Houston reports.
The Killeen Police Department expressed understanding about the deep emotional impact of the unfortunate event on the victim’s family, students, school staff, and the entire Killeen community. They offered their thoughts and support to all those affected and requested the public’s patience and assistance in allowing the Criminal Investigation Division detectives to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
The community has established a GoFundMe fundraiser to help raise money for funeral expenses. On the donation page, Serenity is described as “a bright, loving, and compassionate young soul with a promising future ahead of her. She brought joy to everyone around her, and her kindness touched so many lives.”
The investigation is ongoing.
