Shocking photos reveal the aftermath of the violent incident carried out by Morgan Geyser, who, as a young offender, has recently been discharged from a psychiatric institution.
Geyser was just 12 years old when she tracked down a classmate and stabbed her 19 times to “please” fictional internet character Slender Man.
Following a seven-year treatment program at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, the Wisconsin resident is transitioning to a community-based rehabilitation center.
Despite three previous unsuccessful release requests following her conviction of first-degree intentional homicide in connection to a 2014 assault, this time a panel of medical professionals attested to her significant improvement.
“She’s done what she’s supposed to do,” said Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren.
Extreme mental illness drove Geyser to snatch a kitchen knife from her kitchen and lure little 12-year-old Payton Leutner to the woods in Milwaukee suburb Waukesha, prosecutors said at the time.
She was joined by best friend Anissa Weier, who egged the deranged child on as she drove the knife into Payton’s body.
After being arrested, Geyser disturbingly said her actions were meant to “please” Slender Man – a creepy internet myth that was said to steal children.
The criminal said Slender Man would have taken her from her family if she didn’t do his murderous bidding.
After being pounced on by her classmate, little Payton desperately crawled to safety and was found by a brave cyclist.
Though she survived the attack, horrific crime scene photos give an insight into the pain and torture she had to suffer at Geyser’s hand.
DISTURBING SCENE
Little Payton put on a white graphic t-shirt with inspiring messages of love, hope, and smiling to meet her friends.
But by the end of the night, her entire outfit was riddled with knife holes and caked with dried blood.
Her bright yellow shorts also had a pool of blood on the front, and her flip-flops were left abandoned in the eerie woods.
Before they met Payton, Geyser and Weier packed a supply bag with the knife, a notebook, candy, and maxi pads.
When cops found them, they both had splatters of blood stained on their clothes.
Investigators also found drops of blood that had flown onto tree branches near the attack.
Geyser is now 22 years old, and she’s been fighting to get out of her facilities for years. In April, her third attempt for freedom was shot down by the judge.
Meanwhile, Weier, who pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional homicide, was granted release in 2021.
In court, three psychologists who have worked with Geyser over the years said she had made impressive process, especially in the past six months.
She stopped taking anti-psychotic medications in 2023 and has shown no symptoms, according to Dr. Brooke Lundbohm.
Slender Man stabbing timeline
ON May 31, 2014, 12 year old girls Morgan Geyser, Anissa Weier, and Payton Leutner made plans to meet in the woods in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin suburb of Waukesha.
Before they left, Geyser and Weier grabbed a kitchen knife and put it in a bag, along with candies, a notebook, and maxi pads.
Geyser attacked little Payton in the woods as Weier egged her on.
She stabbed the girl 19 times before leaving her to die.
Payton crawled to safety and was found by a biker, who called for help. She survived the attack.
Geyser was arrested, and she told detectives she had attacked her classmate to impress the fictional internet character Slender Man.
Geyster pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide and was sentenced to 40 years in a psychiatric hospital.
She petitioned to leave the facility several times since 2022, but has been shot down.
On January 9, 2025, she made her fourth attempt at freedom, and the judge allowed her to enter a group living rehabilitation center.
Dr. Ken Robbins said that Geyser was ready to integrate herself back into society and warned that if she didn’t interact with others, she could worsen.
The Waukesha County Assistant District Attorney Ted Szczupakiewicz claimed that Geyser couldn’t be trusted.
He accused the criminal of claiming her father was abusive in an evaluation last year. She said she made up the Slender Man story to get away from him, according to the prosecutor.
But the judge sided with the doctors, and concluded that Geyser no longer poses a threat to herself or others.
