DONALD Trump has made a solemn vow to tackle issues at America’s southern border in a powerful inaugural address.
He declared the border crisis a “national emergency” and pledged to restore common sense in his second term after he was sworn in.
In the speech, Trump declared that America’s new “golden age” is about to begin.
He stressed the importance of making America the top nation globally, outlining plans such as renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in his upcoming presidential orders.
Claiming a vision where America will regain its status as the most powerful and respected country, he aims to evoke admiration and wonder from across the globe.
“A short time from now, we are going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.”
Like in many of his speeches, Trump emphasized his “America First” philosophy, which involves tightening the leash on foreign nations.
He called his second term a “revolution of common sense” as he vowed to tackle the US-Mexico border and stop illegal immigration.
Addressing concerns about what he termed an “invasion” on American soil, the president pledged to categorize Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist groups under his administration’s directives.
He also praised the ceasefire deal that was just signed in Gaza between Israel and Hamas and was met with a standing ovation.
“The hostages in the Middle East are coming back home to their families,” he told the elated crowd.
This demonstrated his plan to be a “peacemaker” and “unifier” to the world, he said in the speech.
Trump mentioned the assassination attempt that saw him shot in the head during a rally, and said that he was saved to “make America great again.”
Behind the scenes, his administration ended the use of the border app CBP One, which allowed nearly 1 million people to illegally enter America if they were eligible to work.
All appointments scheduled with the app have been canceled.
