- Trump said that there was no clash during the cabinet meeting.
It was reported that United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio and billionaire White House adviser Elon Musk got into a disagreement during a Cabinet meeting, where President Donald Trump observed the extent of staff reductions implemented by Rubio.
The disagreement between Rubio and Musk apparently intensified when Trump made it clear to his Cabinet members that they have the authority over staffing and policy decisions within their agencies, not Musk.
As per The New York Times, Musk, who was assigned by Trump to streamline the federal bureaucracy, criticized Rubio for not firing any employees and for obstructing Musk’s initiatives for substantial staff reductions.

In response, Rubio pointed out that at least 1,500 State Department employees had opted for early retirement buyouts.
Rubio also sarcastically questioned whether Musk expected him to rehire those individuals just to stage another round of firings.
The meeting was reportedly called in response to concerns from agency heads about Musk’s blunt approach, which has drawn criticism from top White House officials, including chief of staff Susie Wiles.

Recently, the White House Office of Legislative Affairs has been overwhelmed with calls from frustrated Republican members of Congress nationwide, many of whom have faced backlash from their constituents.
Meanwhile, President Trump dismissed the notion of a clash when questioned about it during a press session in the Oval Office.
“There was no clash; I was present. You’re just trying to stir up trouble. Elon and Marco get along very well, and they’re both doing an excellent job. Marco has been outstanding as Secretary of State, and Elon is a remarkable individual who has performed exceptionally,”
he stated in response to a reporter’s inquiry about the incident.
